The Tender for Design and Build of Material Recovery Facility which was announce in the Kuensel on 5th December has been deferred indefinitely due to the current Covid-19 pandemic situation. The Program Management Unit (PMU), Waste Management Flagship Program (WMFP)  will reschedule submission of tender after taking into considerations the pandemic situation and the safety.

National Environment Commission Secretariat (NECS) would like notify all the importers of Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) and Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) to register with the National Ozone Unit (NOU), NECS for the year 2021 by 31st December 2020.With the recent ratification of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, Bhutan is required to phase down the use of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). The issuance of import permit for HFCs will commence from January 1, 2021.Failure to register may result in disallowance of the import permit at the time of import.

The National Environment COmmission Secretariat hoisted formal awarding ceremony of medal for Royal Civil Service Award 2020 at NEC Conference Hall.

The ceremony was attended by Hon’ble Secretary, Director and other Heads of NECS.

The Biodiversity and Land Use Division with support from WWF Bhutan conducted a Workshop on Post 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework and the New Deal for Nature on 10-11 December, 2020 at Punakha. The workshop was attended by more than 30 participants from various agencies including government officials, civil society organizations, academia and private institution and was aimed at providing national awareness on the process and discussion of the Post 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework under the Convention on Biological Diversity.
